A Hacker was Arrested in Pokhara for trying to Hack the Mobile Banking App The Cyber Bureau has arrested one person from Pokhara for trying to hack a mobile banking app. The arrested person is 26-year-old Navraj Lamichhane, whose permanent residence is Ward No. 14, Putlibazar Municipality, Syangja, and who currently resides in Ward No. 17, Kaski, Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality.
The Bureau, with the help of Provincial Police Office Gandaki and District Police Office Kaski, arrested him on Wednesday from Ward No. 17, Birouta, Pokhara Metropolitan City. “They have been making continuous efforts for a long time intending to gain unauthorized access to the information systems of organizations related to the financial sector located in Kathmandu,” the press release issued by the bureau stated in the details of the incident.
The spokesman of the bureau, Superintendent of Police Deepakraj Awasthi, said that the attempt was made to gain unauthorized access to the banking system, not a digital wallet, but further details could not be disclosed. Superintendent of Police Awasthi said that no further details can be disclosed regarding which banks and mobile banking apps have been hacked. In the preliminary investigation, it was also found that the accused Lamichhane had tried hundreds of times to attack the core banking systems of different banks, according to the bureau.
In the offense under the Electronic Transactions Act 2063 against Lamichhane, the necessary investigation work has been carried forward by taking an extension of six days from the Kathmandu District Court.
