The authority’s midway proposal to prevent Nepal’s internet from shutting down The regulatory The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has requested the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology for foreign exchange recommendations, saying that it is not appropriate to allow a situation where the essential internet service will be shut down. The regulator has suggested a middle-way option regarding recommending foreign currency required for payment of bandwidth by internet service provider companies to upstream providers.
Chartered Accountant Pradeepraj Upadhyay has been instructed to verify the existing fraud within 30 days prior to the financial year 2074/75, and after that, the charge will be collected from the related service provider as per the rules.
Accordingly, even in the cases of 2075/76 and 2076/2077, in the 21st and 22nd reports of the Public Accounts Committee, since it appears that non-telecommunications services such as support charges, annual maintenance charges, technical charges, monitoring charges, RTDF charges, and royalty charges are not charged, it is again instructed to remove them.
But the service providers have been saying that, in accordance with the instructions given by the Public Accounts Committee in the previous year, charges such as maintenance will not be charged and should not be paid for RTDF and royalty in non-telecommunication services.
In the 57th and 58th annual reports of the Auditor General, the outstanding royalty and RTDF amount to be paid for the support and maintenance of Internet service providers have been pointed out.
Some of the internet wasn’t making payments for tax in a foreign country to pay it. But some of the internet wasn’t making a license to document to send it out there. Some of the documents aren’t taking action over there.
I hope this process will be done soon. If the internet company didn’t pay for tax or was not paying due to the previous year, the internet might be shut down at their location or area to announce it out there.
