Today Is The Third Day Of Navaratri And Goddess Chandraghanta Is Being Worshipped Today, on the third day of the Dashain Navaratri, Goddess Chandraghanta is being worshipped.

Following the tradition of worshipping the nine forms of the Goddess that begins with Ghatasthapana, the worship of Chandraghanta is being performed today.

Today, those involved in the field of music, in particular, offer special worship to Goddess Chandraghanta.

Since the beginning of Dashain, crowds of worshippers have been flocking to temples dedicated to the Goddess, and this continues today. There is a bustle of activity among devotees at various temples across the Kathmandu Valley, including Guhyeshwari, Maitidevi, Dakshinkali, Bhadrakali, Naxal Bhagwati, Kalikasthan, Shobha Bhagwati, Taleju Bhawani, Bijeshwari, and Indrayani.

During the nine days of Navaratri, Goddess Shailaputri is worshipped on the first day, Brahmacharini on the second, and Chandraghanta on the third. Similarly, Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day, Skandamata on the fifth, Katyayani on the sixth, Kalaratri on the seventh, Mahagauri on the eighth, and Siddhidatri on the ninth.

Scriptures state that the Goddess is named Chandraghanta because she wears a crescent moon ornament on her head—a crown that resembles a bell. Texts such as the “Shrimad Devi Bhagavata” mention that she incarnated to destroy inhumane and demonic traits—such as rage and violence—and to protect the virtuous.
