1.4 Million Nepali Videos Disappeared From TikTok In Three Months: What Could Be The Reason? Short video platform TikTok has removed more than 1.4 million videos from Nepali users in three months for violating its policies. According to the details provided by the company to Tekpana, a total of 1.476 million videos were removed between the fourth quarter of 2024 (October to December).
TikTok has said that it is strict in enforcing its community guidelines and removing videos that violate them. The company has mentioned that the content moderation tool and thousands of trust and safety professionals play a key role in this.
TikTok has strengthened its presence in Nepal and expanded its safety team to meet local needs. “As the TikTok community grows in Nepal, our commitment to supporting its safety and well-being has grown,” the company said. “We are actively working with a dedicated trust and safety team in Nepal.”
TikTok has announced a Digital Safety Summit in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. During the event, it was mentioned that a year-long policy program was announced to promote online safety and digital literacy. It specifically aims to provide training to parents, teachers and students.
TikTok had organized a #GrowWithTikTok masterclass to support small and medium businesses. The program taught businesses how to use TikTok. Similarly, the company had also launched a Safety Ambassador program in collaboration with Nepali creators and celebrities to spread awareness against online abuse, misinformation and fraud. TikTok said that it is encouraging Nepali creators and celebrities and promoting their talents on the platform.
