Now The Driving License Is Valid For 10 Years In Nepal The validity of a driving license will now be 10 years. The House of Representatives has passed a bill amending some Nepal Acts to extend the validity of a driving license to 10 years.
The validity of a driving license is five years in the Vehicle and Transport Management Act 2049. This has been changed to 10 years through some Nepal Act Amendment Bills.
Section 54 of the prevailing Act contains provisions regarding the validity of a driving license. Sub-section 3 of Section 54 states, ‘A driving license shall be valid for five years from the date of issue.’
This bill, with the proposal, was passed by the House of Representatives. According to the passed bill, even if renewed, it will be renewed for ten years.
This bill was introduced by the then Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung, during the previous government.
This bill was registered in the House of Representatives on 26 Baisakh 2080. The House of Representatives sent it to the thematic committee on 29 Bhadra 2080 for clause-by-clause discussion. It was passed by the committee and reached the House on 14 Baisakh 2081. On Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed it.
Now this bill will go to the National Assembly. After being passed by the National Assembly, it will go back to the House of Representatives. It will go to the President through the Speaker. It will be enacted as an act after being certified by the President.
