Today Is Gen Z Martyr’s Day: A Public Holiday Across The Country The government has declared a public holiday across the country today in memory of the martyrs of the Gen Z Movement.

The Cabinet meeting held on 18 Bhadra had decided to declare 23 Bhadra, the day of the Gen Z Movement, as ‘Gen Z Martyrs’ Day’ and declare a public holiday across the country today. Today marks one year since the Gen Z Movement.

The Gen Z movement, which began with a ban on social media, gradually transformed into a voice against the style of state governance, the efficiency of political leadership, corruption, nepotism, unemployment, public services, and inequality of opportunity.

On 23 Bhadra, 19 people were killed in police firing during a protest in the federal capital Kathmandu. Protests were held across the country on 24 Bhadra in protest of the incident.

During the two-day protests, 76 people, including security personnel and protesters, were killed, and government and private infrastructure was set on fire.
