Minister Sharma Urges International Investors to Invest in the IT Sector Communication and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma has urged international investors to invest in the information technology sector in Nepal. Inaugurating the 10th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal-Italy Chamber of Commerce, Minister Sharma said that there is a favorable environment for investment in the information technology industry in Nepal.

“Accepting information technology as a basic need and national priority, we have opened up investment in it,” Minister Sharma said, “Except for areas related to national sovereignty, including data security of citizens and states, we have initiated an investment-friendly policy to create an environment for foreign investment in other areas of information technology. .”

Giving information that the government has removed the limit on foreign investment in the information technology sector to create an investment environment, necessary procedures such as registration and renewal have been made online, she said that compared to other countries, IT companies can be operated at a low cost in Nepal and the availability of skilled manpower is also sufficient.

“Though the number is yet to be confirmed by the government, there is a situation where nearly one lakh IT manpower is staying within the country and exporting skills and services to various countries,” Minister Sharma further said, “Investment-friendly policies and laws and the availability of skilled manpower, etc. are favorable for the IT industry. Because of the environment, I would like to make a special request to invest in the field of information technology.

Minister Sharma informed that the government is preparing for the fourth investment conference to be held next month and asked the Nepal-Italy Chamber of Commerce to make a program to attract Italian investors. “You are well aware that the government is preparing for the investment conference. A month from now, the fourth investment conference will be held in Nepal. The government believes that this institution will play an important role in creating an investment growth environment by attracting more and more Italian investors,” she added.

Minister Sharma says that more than a dozen laws are ready to be amended immediately given the investment conference.
