VLR measures the number of active customers on a company’s network in a given month. In the recently published Telecommunications Insight of October, it is mentioned that only 16 million, 48 thousand, and 937 customers are active in Nepal Telecom’s mobile service.
While the company claimed that the total number of subscribers to its GSM mobile service that month was 20 million, 887 thousand, 859, From this, it appears that 92 lakh, 38 thousand, and 922 customers out of those mentioned by the company are inactive. Which is 55.77 percent of the total number of customers.
But the private mobile service provider company Ncell, which is 7.653 thousand 144 behind Telecom in the total number of customers, is far ahead of Telecom in terms of active customers. It is mentioned that the number of active customers in Ncell’s network is 129 lakh 64 thousand 212, which is a total of 1 crore 32 lakh 34 thousand 715 customers in the month of October.
According to the latest figures from the authority, the number of active customers is only 20 million, 46 million, 13 thousand, and 149, although it is said that there are a total of 3 million, 41 million, 22 thousand, and 574 customers in both companies.
Based on the number of SIM sales, Nepal Telecom has been presenting itself as the largest telecom company in the country, with a market share of 61.78 percent. Based on that, Ncell’s market share is only 38.22 percent.
But if we base the number of customers actively using the company’s services, Ncell’s market share is 52.67 percent and Telecom’s is 47.33 percent.
