Warren Buffett Praises Apple CEO Tim Cook: He Earned More For My Company Than I Did. World-renowned investor and Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffett has openly praised Apple CEO Tim Cook. Speaking at Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting on Saturday, Buffett openly praised the technology giant Cook.
Berkshire sold about two-thirds of its investment in Apple last year. Just months later, the company’s founder, Buffett, called Tim Cook a person with “unique leadership skills.”
Buffett invested about $35 billion in Apple between 2016 and 2018. Business Insider said that investment had grown to $173 billion by the end of 2023. Buffett jokingly said, “Tim Cook has made more money for Berkshire than I have.” His statement drew laughter from the audience.
Buffett compared Cook to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. “I knew Steve Jobs for a short time,” Buffett said. “The creator of the iPhone certainly did things that no one else could do.”
He added, “No one could have built Apple but Steve. But no one could have built it into what it is today but Tim.” Since Cook took over Apple in 2011, the company’s share price has risen from less than $15 to $205. That’s a nearly 14-fold increase. This has pushed Apple’s market capitalization above $3 trillion.
