There Will Be A Heavy Meteor Shower Tonight Clearly Visible From Nepal As Well A meteor shower is expected to be visible tonight. The Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) issued a statement on Friday, saying that it will be the first meteor shower of 2025.
The source of the meteor shower appears to be in the constellation Butis (Boots), hence the name Butis meteor shower. This meteor shower, which will be active from 13 to 28 Poush, will be at its peak tonight.
The meteor shower is expected to produce 50 to 120 meteors per hour. They will appear as fiery flashes about 70 kilometres above Earth’s atmosphere.
According to NASA, no special equipment is needed to view the meteor shower tonight. NASA says that due to low light pollution, it will be visible to the naked eye.
The process of burning up dust particles and rocks in space as the Earth orbits the Sun is called a meteor shower. In Nepali vernacular, it is known as ‘Tara Khasheko’ or ‘Tara Poil Gayane’.
This astronomical event will be a wonderful moment for those interested in astronomy.
