Facebook Removed Balen’s Post After Many Reported It Facebook has removed the post of Balendra Shah (Balen), head of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Rekha Sharma, who is a member of the Lumbini Province MP on behalf of CPN-UML, accused Balen of child abuse and removed the status posted by Balen on Facebook.
According to Balen’s secretariat, the post itself has been removed after receiving too many reports on the Facebook post. “Facebook seems to have removed the post after many people reported that it had used (MP Sharma’s) photo,” a Secretariat source told Techpana, adding, “We are now trying to recover the post.” Earlier, Facebook had removed some of Balen’s posts.
Sougat Pokharel, a social network researcher, said that recently Facebook has been removing posts using other people’s photos. “Facebook is now giving more priority to copyright issues,” he said. “Facebook takes immediate action when copyright is reported on a photo.”
Earlier, Facebook had removed some of Balen’s posts.
Pokhrel told me that there has been an increase in the number of posts being removed regarding the copyright of photos on big pages, especially in media news. “Many people may wonder why some media has removed the news from the Facebook page,” he said. The same news can be found on the website of the relevant media.
