63 Thousand Instagram Accounts Spreading Obscenity Closed Meta Company released important information on Wednesday. Meta has removed around 63,000 Instagram accounts from its platform. According to Meta, all those accounts are related to pornographic activities.
The incident was related to a scam and took place in the African country of Nigeria. After that, the relevant authorities of that country imposed a fine of 22 million on Meta.
A network of deleted accounts identified 2,500 profiles, including a group of 20 people. In this, 1,300 Facebook accounts, 200 Facebook pages, and 5,700 Facebook groups have also been deleted. They joined the scam through such activities.
Indulging in obscene activities, the group used to threaten people of the opposite sex by sending obscene pictures and also demanding money. Also, it has been found that they are blackmailed to publish the pictures if they do not pay.
Last April, Meta tested an AI-based technology to prevent such crimes on its social media platform. This feature works to protect teenage users from such activities on Instagram. META is also working with legal mechanisms to prevent crimes.
