Indonesia’s Warning To Ban X Brings An Option To Host Porn Videos Social network X introduced a policy to allow users to post adult content, Indonesia has warned of a ban. In an interview on Friday, Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Ari Setiadi, expressed disagreement with X’s new policy and said that they are preparing to close the platform itself.
Indonesia is the world’s largest Muslim-majority country. which has been banning online platforms of content considered obscene.
“We will definitely stop X’s services,” Minister Setiyadi said. In Indonesia’s Electronic Information and Transaction (ITE) Law, anyone who spreads obscene material will be sentenced to six years in prison.
Elon Musk-owned X has recently revised its policy to allow adult content on the platform. According to Reuters, the international media has responded that the minister is preparing to impose a ban on that reference.
Earlier, the Indonesian government expressed its disagreement by sending a letter to Musk on the matter. However, Musk has not yet responded to the letter. X has not given any opinion to the media on this matter.
There are more than 24.8 million users of X in Indonesia. Musk visited Indonesia last month. During that time, he launched Starlink Internet. Apart from that, the establishment of Tesla’s battery plant in Indonesia was also discussed.
