Copyright has a special importance in protecting the creations created by the human brain in the fields of literature, music, art, architecture, knowledge, and information technology, as well as guaranteeing the economic and moral rights of the creator.

The Copyright Act 2059 has been enacted in Nepal for this purpose. The Office of Nepal Copyright Registrar, established under the same Act, has been doing various related work. Under this, the office has launched an information system to register the copyright of compositions since last August. Before that, one had to go to the office to register the composition.

In this system, you can create an account individually or institutionally. These can be selected from the new page that appears after clicking on Register.

If you want to register the composition individually, then click on ‘individual’ and ‘agency’ and fill out the corresponding form.

After doing this, your account is ready. But you have to log in again.

In this, you have to upload a photo of the payment receipt paid to the Revenue. 110 rupees for the revenue amount (10 rupees for the postage stamp and 100 rupees for the composition registration fee).

You can deposit this amount through Connect IPS or Commercial Bank (Revenue Title 14229 and Office Code 325043501) to the government account.

Last page
It shows a summary of all the details you have filled out so far. If any details are wrong, you can go back there and correct them. If all the details are correct, click on ‘Submit’ and proceed. Or you can draft by clicking on ‘Save’.

If the form is submitted, its status will be displayed as ‘New Application’ on the dashboard. If the registrar’s staff starts checking the details, the status of the application will show as ‘On Progress’.
