Nepali YouTuber in promotion
Earlier, eight YouTubers were arrested on May 31 last year for promoting the illegal online betting platform ‘Onexbet’. The YouTuber, who was arrested for the crime of gambling, was released on bail after about a month.
At that time, artists Marichman Shrestha (Balchi Dhurve), Raju Poudel (Raju Poudel) and Begum Nepali (Bhatbhate Maila), YouTuber Pawan Khatiwada (Macuri), Elish Rai, Jalan Ghartimar (Jalan), Ganesh Devkota (Ganesh GD), Saroj Ghimire (Dhendu) Budho) and vlogger Rajkumar Thapa Magar were missing. Apart from them, some YouTubers who promoted illegal online betting platforms were absconding.
A teleserial promoting ONEX bat aired on national television
The teleserial promoted by ONEX Bet has been airing on National Television Nepal Television. In the middle of the video, “Onex bat is the main sponsor of various sports matches taking place or previously held in Nepal such as T-20 and other matches and various international matches,” it is said.

A separate domain name to operate in Nepal!
Although the main site of Onex Bet has been banned, the company has provided a domain name (1xbetnp.com) for online betting. Social media links are also placed within the website. Where there is a link to the Facebook page and Instagram account opened for Nepal.

In particular, the company has promoted itself on porn sites, blogging platforms, etc. Some Facebook page owners mislead the readers by putting misleading and broken titles to create a website and bring more content to it. When the reader tries to read that content, the ads that appear on it lead the user to such illegal betting platforms.
What does the police say?
Earlier, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested the YouTuber who was campaigning and proceeded with the investigation into the crime of gambling. After being in jail for almost 28 days, they were ordered to be released on bail by the single bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Himlal Belbase.
Most of the arrested YouTubers are involved in the promotion of ONEX Bet in a new way. “We will first investigate the matter and bring it under the legal ambit if found guilty,” said SSP Somendra Rathore.

Gambling is banned in Nepal. Section 2 of the Revised Gambling Act 2020 clearly mentions the definition of gambling. According to that act, it is said that gambling should be understood as any game in which a bet is played based on chance to win or lose property.
Section 3 of the Gambling Act 2020 states that gambling or gambling is prohibited. Sub-section 1 of section 3 reads, “No person shall gamble, play or pretend to be gambling or engage in gambling or gambling in any house, room or place belonging to his right or his enjoyment or responsibility, or reside in a gambling place.” .”
