Meanwhile, a large number of police have also reached the residence of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. According to UML leader Ram Kumari Jhankri, the police have reached Gundu with documents.
The cabinet meeting held immediately after the formation of the new government decided to implement the report prepared by the inquiry commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki.
The police had officially requested a written order from the government.
Even the secretary of the Ministry of Law was taken to the headquarters in Naxal at midnight.
The commission of inquiry had studied the suppression of the Genji movement on 23 and 24 Bhadra and submitted a report to the interim government led by Sushila Karki.
However, parts of the report have already been made public in the media.
The report recommended that the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and the then Police Chief Chandrakuber Khapung proceed with the criminal investigation.
The first meeting of the new government, held on Friday, decided to immediately implement the commission’s recommendations.
After discussions that lasted until midnight, Law Secretary Parashwar Dhungana was also called to the police headquarters after no agreement was reached.
He left the headquarters and prepared a written order. After that, the police issued an arrest warrant and took Oli into custody.
Action was recommended under Sections 181 and 182 of the Criminal Code.
The said section mentions that action will be taken under the crime of negligence and negligent homicide. The commission had mentioned both those sections and recommended action.
