National League: Army Beats Police In Departmental Derby To Finish Second Tribhuvan Army defeated Nepal Police Club 4-1 in the National League’s departmental derby on Monday, helped by two goals from Nirajan Dhami.
Pemba Sherpa and Kiran Suna also scored a goal each for the Army in the match played at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor. Dasharath Giri scored a goal for the Police.
Army, which won its sixth victory in nine matches, has climbed to second place with 20 points. Army has reduced the gap with another departmental team, APF, to one point and put itself in the title race. APF is at the top with 21 points from the same number of matches. Police, which suffered its fifth defeat, is at 12th place with 8 points from nine matches.
Nirajan scored in the 31st minute to give Army the lead. Dasharath Giri scored in the 43rd minute to bring Police back into the game in the first half.
But in the second half, Army added three goals. Pemba scored in the 57th minute to give Army a 2-1 lead. Nirajan scored his second individual goal in the 70th minute, while Kiran scored the team’s fourth goal in the fourth minute of injury time of the second half.
