Famous Hollywood Actor Robert Redford Dies has died at the age of 89. He was best known for his performances in films such as ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ and ‘The Sting’.
His publicist, Cindy Berger, said in a statement: “Robert Redford passed away on September 16 at his Sundance residence in Utah, where he was surrounded by the people he loved. He will be greatly missed. The family has asked for privacy at this time.”
Academy-winning Redford was joined by celebrities such as Meryl Streep and Jane Fonda, who paid tribute to him. He was also known as the founder of the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. He won the Oscar for best director in 1980 for the film “Ordinary People.” He retired from acting in 2018 after saying he was “tired of acting” in 2016.
Redford’s greatest contribution to the film industry is considered to be the Sundance Film Festival, which helped to boost his career by encouraging independent filmmaking in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Films that premiered at Sundance and later became huge hits include Four Weddings and a Funeral, Precious, Manchester by the Sea, Little Miss Sunshine, The Blair Witch Project, and Get Out.
