According to the company, the ease, security, and instant service of UPI payments through the FonePay network have played an important role in increasing the business of Indian tourists. It is said that now 80 percent of Nepal’s QR code system can accept UPI payments through FonePay.
The service was started four months ago between Nepal’s payment operator FonePay and NIPL, the international branch of India’s National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), for Nepal-India international QR payments.
Under this, customers who are using VIMUPI and Fonepay payment service provider platforms in India will be able to pay through FonePay QR in Nepal. The service fee charged during payment is determined by the wallet and the financial institution themselves.
