WhatsApp Blocked The Accounts Of 72 Lakh Indians In A Month Messaging app WhatsApp has banned about 72 lakh accounts in India. The platform, which is owned by Meta, banned 7.182 thousand accounts in the month of April. Of these, 1.3 million and two thousand accounts were banned by the company itself, while the remaining accounts were blocked in half of the reports made by other users, according to the company.
WhatsApp has more than 550 million users in India. According to the company’s statement, more than 10 thousand 554 users have reported an account ban. Apart from users, India’s Online Dispute Resolution Mechanism Grievance Appellate Committee reported to WhatsApp for an account ban. And it is said that the company has banned the account following this.
Similarly, in March alone, WhatsApp banned 79 lakh Indian accounts. At that time, WhatsApp accounts were reported 12,782 times. The company has deployed a team of engineers, data scientists, analysts, researchers, and experts in law enforcement, online security, and technology development to inspect the account.
