US Talks With Iran Positive: Trump Announces 5-Day Pause In Attacks US President Donald Trump has said that talks between the US and Iran over the past two days have been productive and that he has decided to pause US strikes against Iran for five days.
Trump said on the social media platform Truth Social that they had “very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and comprehensive resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East.”
According to Trump, it has been decided to halt all US attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days.
The deadline given by US President Donald Trump to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz expires today.
Global markets have reacted positively to Trump’s announcement. According to the BBC, crude oil prices have fallen by 13 percent to around $96 per barrel. The FTSE 100 index, which had previously fallen by more than 2 percent, is now up 0.5 percent.
The yield on the UK 10-year government bond, which had previously reached 5.121 percent, has now fallen to 4.89 percent – even lower than at the start of the day.
Trump’s message has been analyzed as his most conciliatory since the start of ‘Operation Epic Fury’.
He added, “Based on the intent and tone of these intensive, detailed, and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, I have directed the War Department to suspend any and all military strikes against Iranian energy facilities and infrastructure for a period of five days, contingent upon the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions. Thank you for your attention on this matter! President Donald J. Trump.”
