Koirala, who fought hard for the establishment and restoration of democracy in Nepal, was born on Bhadra 24, 1971 BS. The Koirala family was forced to go into exile in India after his father, Krishna Prasad Koirala, in protest against the brutal Rana regime, sent a parcel of clothes worn by poor farmers to Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher.
During the exile in India, the Nepali National Congress was established in 2003 BS under the leadership of BP to end the Rana regime.
The Nepal Democratic Congress, which was established in 2006 BS under the leadership of Subarna Shamsher with the main goal of establishing democracy, became successful after the 2007 BS revolution was unified.
Koirala, who became the first elected Prime Minister after the Nepali Congress won a two-thirds majority in the 2015 BS general election, provided political leadership for the establishment of nationalism, democracy, and socialism in Nepal.
A month later, the official residence of the chief of the army’s Sundarijal Arsenal was surrounded by a wall and Koirala, the first Speaker of Parliament, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, leader Ganeshman Singh, and other ministers were transferred to the Sundarijal detention centre.
The Department of Archaeology has brought the museum, which has been made a tourist attraction by collecting important items from BP’s life, into the final stage of reconstruction after it was damaged by the earthquake on Baisakh 12, 2072.
On the occasion of BP Jayanti, the Nepali Congress, fraternal and well-wishing organisations, and the BP Museum have organised various programs across the country. On this occasion, it is reported that the Nepali Congress is going to celebrate BP Jayanti with a program targeting the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections.
