Telecom Launches ‘VoWiFi’ Commercially: Now You Can Make Phone Calls Over Wi-Fi Nepal Telecom has launched its ‘VoWiFi’ service commercially. The service was officially launched on Tuesday on the telecom’s 21st anniversary.
Through this technology, any mobile phone that supports ‘VoWiFi’ and has VoLTE service activated will be able to receive voice and SMS services using Nepal Telecom’s mobile number via WiFi network within Nepal and abroad.
According to the company, the service will be charged at the same voice/SMS package or pay-as-you-go rates within Nepal. Incoming calls will be free while outgoing calls will be charged at Rs. 3 per minute.
With the launch of the ‘VoWiFi’ service, the company has come up with a plan to provide more convenient and technology-friendly communication services to its customers.
What is VoWiFi
VoWiFi is a technology that allows users to make phone calls and send SMS over a Wi-Fi network. Typically, mobile calls are made over a cellular network (such as 2G, 3G, or 4G). However, VoWiFi enables you to make calls and send SMS over Wi-Fi even in places where there is no mobile network.
If your mobile phone supports VoWiFi and has VoLTE enabled, you can make phone calls and send SMS over Wi-Fi instead of your mobile network.
The ‘VoWiFi service makes it possible to connect to the Wi-Fi internet even in places with weak mobile tower signals, such as indoors, underground areas, or in remote locations. Even when you are abroad, if you are on a Wi-Fi network, you can make calls and send SMS using Nepal Telecom’s ‘VoWiFi’ service as if you were in Nepal.
