Death Toll In Kumbh Mela Stampede Reaches 30 The death toll in the stampede at the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India, has reached 30.
Speaking to media persons on Wednesday evening, DIG of Mahakumbh Vaibhav Krishna informed that the death toll in the stampede at Mahakumbh has reached 30. Of these, 25 have been identified. According to Indian media, 60 people have been injured in the stampede.
An estimated 150 million people have bathed in the Ganges in the Mahakumbh Mela that began on January 13. On Wednesday, on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, i.e. Magh Krishna Aunsi, more than 100 million devotees were expected to participate in the Kumbh Mela.
However, on Tuesday night, there was a sudden stampede at the Sangamsthan in Prayagraj. After the people started running, the local administration removed the barricades and opened the road.
