TikTok Is Running In The US But X Is Not Running In China Which Is An Imbalance: Elon Musk Even though the service of the social networking app TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has been re-launched in the US, Elon Musk has said that he has always been against the ban on TikTok.
Musk shared an old post on social media, saying that the ban on TikTok violates freedom of expression in the US.
But he says there is an imbalance because even though TikTok runs in the US, the ‘X’ is still not allowed in China. He adds, “Something needs to change.”
X (then Twitter) has been banned in China since 2009. Foreign apps like YouTube, WhatsApp, Google, and Facebook are also banned in China.
Meanwhile, TikTok was shut down in the US on Saturday due to a ban on TikTok citing national security reasons. However, the ban was temporarily lifted at the initiative of newly elected President Donald Trump, and TikTok has been back in operation within 14 hours of the shutdown.
