Implanting A Neuralink Chip In A Third Person’s Brain Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk’s brain-computer interface company Neuralink has implanted a chip in the brain of a third person. During an interview, Musk said a third person was implanted with a chip.

This company is working to connect the human nervous system with the machine. “We have three people with Neuralink chip implants, and all are doing well,” Musk said during a live Las Vegas event on X.

About a year after implanting the chip in the brain for the first time, Musk said the company has upgraded the device with more electrodes, higher bandwidth, and longer battery life. According to him, Neuralink expects to implant this experimental device in 20 to 30 more people this year.

Musk has not released any details about the third patient who received the chip implant, but he used to provide information about previous patients from time to time.

The first patient to receive a chip implant after being paralyzed after a spinal cord injury shared in a podcast how the device helped him play video games and chess.

While these developments in Neuralink have caught the attention of many, many other companies and research groups are working on similar projects. Two studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine last year mentioned how a brain-computer interface helped people with ALS, or muscle-wasting disease, communicate better.

According to the American Studies Database, more than 45 trials involving brain-computer interfaces are ongoing.
