Posting on social network X on Tuesday, Neuralink mentioned that the device named ‘Blindsight’ has been approved for testing.
The company has given it the tag of ‘breakthrough device.’ Such a name is given to medical devices that help in the treatment or diagnosis of life-threatening conditions.
Currently, this device is under development. After getting the approval, it is expected to develop rapidly. “A patient who cannot see in both eyes due to optic nerve loss will be able to see with the help of this device,” Elon Musk said at X.
No information has been given on when this device will be tested on humans.
It is said that the new chip manufactured by this company will help restore sight. The company says that such a device can be controlled from a phone or a computer.
Neuralink is starting a second trial of implanting the chip in paralyzed patients. First of all, it is said that people who have implanted the Neuralink chip can use the computer as much as they want.
Regarding the new chip, this test will be done on three people who have lost their sight. It has not been revealed how much time it will take to complete this project.
