iPhone Is More Vulnerable To Hacking Than Android

iPhone Is More Vulnerable To Hacking Than Android A recent study has shown that iOS devices are more vulnerable to cyberattacks than Android devices. A study conducted by Boston-based cloud security company Lookout, in the US, has shown that iOS devices are more likely to be targeted by hackers in 2024.

The company’s third quarter 2024 ‘Mobile Threat Landscape Report’ shows that iOS devices are more likely to face phishing and web content-related threats than Android. The report covers the period from July to September 2024. And, it highlights the trend of cybercriminals targeting mobile devices in the initial stages of their attacks.

According to researchers at Lookout Threat Labs, enterprise-focused credential theft and phishing attempts increased by 17 per cent compared to the previous quarter. And, they found a 32 per cent increase in malware app detections.

During the first three months of 2024, 19 per cent of iOS devices were affected by at least one mobile phishing attack, compared to 10.9 per cent for Android devices.

In this, attackers are using increasingly sophisticated techniques to deceive users and steal sensitive data.

As phishing attacks become more sophisticated, cybercriminals are targeting consumers through emails, text messages and fake websites. Experts say these tactics are evolving and becoming more sophisticated. Whether you’re an iPhone or Android user, you need to be careful when clicking on any links to avoid data theft.

In addition to the phishing threat, Lookout said it detected two mobile surveillance tools (spying apps or software) operated by China- and Russia-based Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups in the attack. These surveillance tools are capable of extracting sensitive user information, monitoring communications, and conducting long-term surveillance on targeted individuals and organizations, Lookout’s report said.

The researchers used an AI-powered mobile dataset for their study, which analyzed 220 million devices, 360 million mobile apps, and billions of websites.

Since 2019, Lookout has identified more than 473 million malicious and phishing websites.
