Elon Musk’s Cybertruck Explodes Outside Trump’s Hotel: Terror Attack Suspected At least one person has died and seven others have been injured after a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside US President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel on Wednesday.
CNN quoted an official investigating the incident as saying that fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel were used in the Cybertruck that exploded. It is believed to be linked to a driver-controlled detonation system.
Jimmy Schwartz, acting special agent in charge of the FBI’s Las Vegas office, said Wednesday that the FBI is trying to determine whether the incident was an act of terrorism. He noted that the initial investigation indicates that it was an isolated incident and that there is no further threat to the public.
The hotel was called to a vehicle fire at 8:40 a.m. and when firefighters arrived, the Cybertruck was fully engulfed in flames, Sheriff Kevin McMahill said.
According to the investigation, the truck was rented from Colorado and arrived in Las Vegas at 7:30 a.m. After driving on Las Vegas Boulevard for about an hour, the truck stopped in front of the Trump Hotel and exploded seconds later.
CCTV footage shows the truck driving around the hotel for about an hour before the explosion. At the same time, the truck turns around and stops in front of the hotel and explodes seconds later.
Police say they know who rented the truck, but they are not releasing the name until the person inside the vehicle is identified.
Sheriff McMahill said, “Because it was a Cybertruck, most of the power from the explosion was directed upward and there was not much damage to the parking lot.”
He thanks Elon Musk, saying, “Musk provided live video of Tesla charging stations to assist in our investigation.”
Tesla owner Elon Musk wrote on social media, “Investigations have confirmed that the explosion was not caused by the Cybertruck, but by a large firework or bomb placed in the bed of the truck.”
He responded that the Cybertruck exploded due to terrorist activities, not internal problems. Sharing the incident of the Cybertruck explosion on social media, Musk claimed that the media is spreading misleading news about the Cybertruck.
The incident outside the hotel of US President-elect Trump, in which Musk’s company car played an important role in helping Trump win, has become a matter of global interest.
