TikTok Removes More Than 6000 Nepali Videos In Two Months TikTok has removed 6,078 videos in Nepal that violated its community guidelines in the last two months. Of those videos posted between April and June, 99.1 per cent were removed immediately and 93.2 per cent were removed within 24 hours, TikTok representatives said.
The figures were presented at an event organized by TikTok in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Kathmandu on Tuesday. At the event, TikTok representative Sidra Jalil presented a working paper on the regulatory guidelines developed by the company.
She said that TikTok has been categorized into age groups to make it dignified and manageable. According to the guidelines, users must be at least 16 years old to send direct messages on TikTok and 18 years old to livestream.
Jalil believed that the guidelines were not fully followed due to a lack of awareness about the proper use of social media.
At the event, TikTok’s South Asia Public Policy and Government Relations Head Fordus Motakin expressed his commitment to promote digital awareness and online safety in collaboration with the Nepali government. He said that while guidelines have been prepared to protect children and young users in particular and some precautions have been taken to create a safe online environment, there is still work to be done.
