Operation Of Charang Khola Bridge Connecting Korla Pass Under the Kaligandaki Corridor (Beni-Jomsom-Korla) road project, the under-construction Charang Khola concrete bridge connecting Mustang’s North Korla Pass has been operational since Monday.
The lamas of the local monastery of the bridge constructed on the Charang River under the Korla access road of Upper Mustang conducted prayers according to Buddhist religious traditions and brought the vehicles into operation over the bridge. Chairman of Loghekar Damodarkund Rural Municipality of Charang Khola Bridge, Lopsang Chomphel Bist, inaugurated by cutting the ribbon.
The bridge was contracted on 29 June 2075 by Kasthamandap Construction Pvt. According to the initial contract of the Charang Khola Bridge, which is 80 meters long with two spans, it was supposed to end on 9th January 2077. But the bridge was completed in 6 years.
During the construction of the Charang Khola Bridge, the construction company mentioned that the construction work was hampered due to geographical heterogeneity, adverse weather, snowfall and extreme cold, and the deadline for the bridge was extended up to 5 times. The information officer of the project, Vishnu Chapagai, informed us that the Charang Khola Bridge connecting Korla Naka has been put into operation since Monday.
