Google DeepMind CEO And Two Other Nobel Prizes Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis along with David Baker and John Jumper won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. They will be jointly awarded the Nobel Prize for their research into understanding protein structure.
According to the Nobel Prize Committee’s announcement on Wednesday, half of the prize will be awarded to Becker for ‘computational protein design’ and half to Hassabis and Jumper for ‘prediction of protein structure’.
Baker, who received the award, is a professor at the University of Washington, while Hassabis is the CEO of Google DeepMind, Google’s AI research arm. Similarly, Jumper is working as a senior researcher at Google DeepMind. Hassabis and Jumper have succeeded in predicting the structure of almost all proteins using AI. In 2020, they released an AI model called Alphafold Two.
With the help of this, they were able to predict the protein structure. Baker learned the art of building new proteins by controlling amino acids in 2003. It is said that this will open the door to rapidly making various proteins required in fields like medicine and vaccines.
Now they will announce the award in a special ceremony on the 10th of December. This time it has been announced that the Nobel Prize in Physics will be awarded to two scientists who study AI.
