Ex Making Public Posts Visible Even To Blocked Users Social network X (Twitter) has started making your public posts visible even to blocked accounts. The company is going to make this kind of arrangement by changing the functionality behind the block button.
Elon Musk also confirmed this matter, which was discovered by independent researcher Nima Oji, on Monday. Blocked accounts will not be able to engage with the blocking account. But they will be able to see the posts of the blocker.
“The block function will block such an account from engaging, but not from viewing public posts,” Musk said in a post on Monday. According to OG, when visiting the blocking account, the blocked account user may not see that “You have been blocked…”.
Instead, blocked users can see the public posts of the blocked account just like other users. However, restrictions may apply to reposting, quoting, replying, or engaging with blocked accounts.
Roughly 10 years ago, when Twitter made a similar change to the block feature. In 2013, Twitter updated its policy to allow blocked users to view content, follow, and even engage with the blocker.
Blocking accounts would not see that kind of engagement. At that time, after there was a setback in the updates related to blocking, Twitter called an emergency meeting and returned to the old policy to strengthen the block again. The next update of X will not go to that level.
Engagement within the block will not be allowed. According to Musk, some people may not be excited by this kind of change. Social media users often use the block feature to keep themselves away from abusers, harassers, or attackers. This new change in blocking will definitely make that type of blocking a bit softer.
