Elon Musk Discovers Lies By Asking Job Seekers A Single Question If the company finds out that the person interviewing for the job is lying, they will not be selected. This is also natural. Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has been using a different method to find out the truth about the applicant who comes to the interview.
While speaking at the World Government Summit in 2017, Musk revealed that he asks the same question to all job seekers.
His question was, “Tell me, what is the most complex problem you have worked on so far?” And how did you solve it?” According to him, this one question can easily identify whether a person is telling the truth or lying.
Musk believes that whoever has really solved the problem knows all the details.
This method of Musk has also been confirmed by a study published in the ‘Journal of Applied Research in Memory and Cognition’ in 2020. According to the study, people who give specific details appear to be telling the truth, while people who lie try to give general information.
Researcher Cole Porter says the method was designed to screen criminals. “Minor details are the lifeblood of forensic investigation, and all three help investigators examine facts and question them.”
This means that the style of questions asked by Elon Musk helps to get more accurate information from the person. Apart from that, if they are lying, it will be recognized immediately.
According to the New York Post, Musk wants his company to hire employees with different skills. He uses the M technique to ensure that this is the right person for the company. Also, they look for the information that the person has in his resume, whether his experience and skills match each other or not. He selects employees in the company who meet the qualities he is looking for.
