Ministry Of Home Affairs Directive Not To Make National Identity Card Compulsory For Social Security Allowance The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a circular to various district administration offices in the country not to make national identity cards mandatory for social security allowances. On Friday, a letter was sent to the relevant district administration offices of the country, instructing them not to implement the system of making national identity cards mandatory for social security allowances in 28 districts from Sharwan 1.
The gazette published on 10 Asar 2081 made national identity cards mandatory for social security allowances in 28 different districts of the country. However, due to the continuous rains in the country recently, floods, landslides, and disasters have occurred in some places.
Due to this, it has become difficult for Nepali citizens who receive social security allowance to make a national identity card. Given the adverse weather conditions, the Council of Ministers decided to instruct the Ministry of Home Affairs to suspend this arrangement on Asar 27.
Based on the same letter, the ministry issued a circular to the district administration office not to make the national identity card mandatory for the said services immediately.
From July 1, 28 districts made National Identity Card compulsory for social security allowance
