Let’s Not Make National Identity Cards Mandatory For The Elderly CPN-UML MP Raghuji Pant has said that it is not necessary to make national identity cards mandatory for elderly people. Speaking at today’s House of Representatives meeting, Pant said that it is not appropriate to make national identity cards compulsory for people who have crossed the age of 60 or 65.
“Why did you insist on getting a national identity card for those people who only need to receive an old age allowance? Citizenship is enough. Let’s leave aside the matter of the district outside; it is also difficult in Kathmandu,” he said.
He said that when the government made identity cards mandatory for social security allowances, it was difficult for the elderly, and national identity cards should not be mandatory for the elderly with citizenship.
Drawing the attention of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Pant requested that they correct the wrong decision and send the circular immediately. He suggested that national identity cards should be given only to those who have lived a long time.
