Looking For A Job In The Technology Sector It is difficult to find a job as you are looking for in a competitive market. For this Curriculum Vitae (CV) is very important. Whether you are a developer, an IT manager, or any other technician. A well-organized CV is important for you to get a job. Some people call it a personal statement i.e. a ‘resumé’. Today we will discuss how a CV should be created while applying for technical positions:
1. Write a great profile
Your personal profile is the first thing a company or employer looks at in a CV. Therefore, it is important to prepare a CV in a very precise and to-the-point manner. Being a technical person, you can briefly highlight your technical expertise, experience, and career in this.
For this, initially, you can put the role you are currently working in (or not) and overall experience. Write what you are proficient in DevOps Python or Java.
2. Highlight skills
Skills are what will get you a job. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the skills section of the CV. Instead of keeping all the skills you have, you can keep the area-wise skills in a simple, yet attractive way.
For example, you can categorize your skills like Programming Languages, Frameworks & Libraries, Tools & Platforms, and Soft Skills. Then, in each of those categories, list your skills according to their relevance to the job you’re applying for. For example: You can put Python, Java, C++, and SQL under programming languages.
3. Focus on technical breakthroughs
It is better to say that you have achieved this success rather than doing such and such work on your CV. Because it helps to understand that you are not only a person who works but also a person who can show results.
For example, instead of ‘created a website for a certain company’, you can write ‘increased user engagement by 50 percent by creating a website for a certain company’. Since the CV is a reflection of the application, it also has a special meaning.
4. Show qualifications
Although it is said that educational qualification is not necessary to work in the technical industry, it has a special meaning in professional organizations. Putting such qualifications on your CV will also greatly help your professional development.
It is not necessary to keep the certificate given by the university. If you have received training relevant to the position you are applying for, include those certificates. It not only highlights your expertise. Rather, it also means that you are constantly being updated.
Similarly, there are various clubs or organizations in the IT sector. If you are in one of them, mention it in your CV.
5. Position wise CV
Some people send the same CV for different posts. But it is not good to do so. You should modify your CV according to the position you are applying for. This means putting your skills and experiences on your CV that are relevant to the role the company is looking for.
For this, it is important to carefully look at the details and requirements of the work that the company discloses. Then you can match the personal profile, skills, and achievements in the CV.
Nowadays, the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is used to scan the data in the CV. Because of this, there is no need to make a CV traditionally.
