Nepal-India International QR Payments Starting Today Nepal-India international QR payments will start on Wednesday Today. This facility is about to come six months after the official announcement of the Nepal-India international payment service between Nepal’s payment operator PhonePay and NIPL, the international branch of India’s National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
Under this, customers who are using VIMUPI and PhonePe payment service provider platforms in India will be able to pay through QR in Nepal. For this, Nepal’s payment operator, PhonePay, has prepared to make the system live on Wednesday morning.
According to PhonePe, so far, eSewa and more than half a dozen banks have been affiliated for international payments. It is said that these financial institutions can receive payments from Indian customers on PhonePay QR codes distributed to merchants.
“Phonepay’s system is ready for cross-border payments. We are making the system live tomorrow,” a source close to PhonePe told TechPana. “We are gradually adding banks and digital wallets to the system.”
The wallet and the financial institution will decide the service fee for the payment. According to Phonepay, payment service providers and financial institutions interested in international payments can join.
Digital wallet eSewa has given a signal to start international payments by keeping a post on social media. “What would it be like for eSeva merchants to be able to easily receive payments from Indian customers through PhonePay QR?” a post by eSewa asked.
In the caption, the company has introduced international payments for the convenience of its merchants. Esewa has not given any information about when it will start. Other payment service providers and financial institutions will be separately informed about the start of international payment services in their systems.
