Is the government of Nepal giving 2.5 lakh rupees to every citizen? It has been found that false information has been spread on the social network Facebook, saying that the government of Nepal is going to give two and a half lakh rupees to every citizen. It has been requested to register for a grant of two and a half lakh rupees by advertising on the Facebook page opened under the name of ‘Ministry of Finance’.
A link to the landpage.som.com site can be seen at the bottom of the advertisement, which has a photo of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, ‘Prachand’. If you click on that link, put a photo of the “Ministry of Finance” and say, “Congratulations!” The Prime Minister’s decision to grant one lakh rupees to all who see this statement is written.
At the bottom of it, there is a button called ‘Register’. By clicking on it, it says, ‘Congratulations! You have been selected to be one of the financial scholarship recipients.
Especially in the name of affiliate marketing, such frauds are happening. Scammers send social media users targeted links through their links. They earn as much as the users reach the site through the links they provide.
Such a page opens on the said site, where the logos of Nepal Telecom, Ncell, and Smartcell are placed. If you select one of the options, it says, ‘Click the link to get the gift’.
Such links are called ‘rotating redirect links’ or ‘rotator links’. These links are usually used for affiliate programs or online marketing. Some people use these links for marketing, while others use them to lead users to phishing links.
When that happens, there is a high possibility of buying unnecessary subscription packages and reaching irrelevant links. In this link as well, it seems that the scammer is using such a link for affiliate marketing.
Speaking to Tekpana on this matter, an official from the finance department of the Ministry of Finance clarified that there is no program to provide such grants.
