International Online Transactions have Started now : Indian Tourists can pay with PhonePay QR From today, Indian tourists can make payments in Nepal through PhonePay QR. This facility has been in operation since Wednesday, according to the agreement reached between Nepal’s payment operator PhonePay, and India’s National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
Under this, customers who are using BHIM UPI (BHIM) and PhonePe payment service provider platforms in India will be able to pay through QR in Nepal.
According to Phonepay, more than half a dozen banks have been associated with e-services and pocket wallets for international payments. These financial institutions will be able to receive payments from Indian customers via PhonePay QR codes distributed to merchants.
Indian customers will be able to make payments in Nepal, but Nepali customers will not be able to make payments in India immediately. For this, PhonePe is awaiting the approval of the Nepal Rastra Bank. With the approval of Rashtra Bank, QR payments can be made in India through digital wallets and mobile banking apps in Nepal.
