On Christmas: I got a message saying that I won an iPhone 15 For the past few days, a scam link has been spreading on Messenger and WhatsApp saying that I would get an iPhone 15 as a gift from the drawer on Christmas. Scammers have spread a phishing link scam targeting Christmas Day which falls on Monday.
The drawer logo is in the feature photo of the link the user receives. In the link’s title, ‘Daraz – Christmas present’ is written, while in the description, ‘Participate in Daraz’s Christmas event and get a gift’. Below that is the link to the scam site.
When you click on the link, it says ‘Congratulations!’ Below that, you are asked to click on the ‘Claim Gift’ button. After tapping on that button, you will be asked to choose an option between ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ as the answer to four questions. At the bottom of the same post, there is a fake comment. In which it is falsely claimed to have received a gift from the drawer.
After doing this, there will be gift boxes. Out of that, you are told to tap on three boxes. When you tap it for the first time, nothing comes up. And when you tap for the second time, a screen will open saying that you have won an iPhone 15. To receive the said gift, it is mentioned that you have to forward it to five groups or 20 people, give an email address and after doing this, the gift will arrive at your home in five to seven days.
According to the cyber security analyst, the scammer has prepared such a link to steal sensitive information from the user’s device through a phishing link and send the link to other people through them.
It is not yet clear what kind of user information is stolen by this link aimed at Daraz. However, cyber security analysts have suggested that such links should be avoided by saying that this is a complete scam link and the user’s data will be stolen by clicking on it.
