Parliamentary committee directive to the government to amend the law and bring Ncell under government ownership The State Order and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives has been instructed to amend the necessary regulations to bring the telecommunications company Ncell under government ownership.
The meeting of the committee held on Tuesday decided to instruct the Government of Nepal, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply to amend the necessary laws and regulations.
Based on the report of the Committee-2080, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply have been instructed to recover the tax or non-tax amount due from Ncell as per the prevailing law.
Similarly, the Government of Nepal, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply should amend the Telecommunications Act and Regulations as soon as possible.
In addition, the committee has also decided to write a letter asking for information regarding the action taken by the Nepal Telecommunication Authority regarding the purchase and sale of shares by Ncell.
