Redmi K50i Review Update 2022 is the return of the K series in India after a two-year hiatus. But is it worth the price and where does it stand against the competition? The phone’s attire is well equipped with a MediaTek Density of 8100, a 6.6-inch LCD with an adaptive 144Hz refresh rate with a 5,080 MAH battery with 67W fast charging.
At Rs 27,999, the Redmi K20 Pro had everything you would want in a mid-range flagship in 2019. But, the K20 series came at a time when the Redmi brand was better known for its budget options. Some deemed the price too high. And then the K series disappeared–well for India at least– for the next two years. With the Redmi K50i, it is making a comeback of sorts. But the market it is entering is different.
It is the first Redmi phone to have Dolby Vision support, its LCD panel is of the Fringe Field Switching (FFS) variety. There’s also the Gorilla Glass 5 for better protection and a 16mp selfie. The phone comes with dual speakers with Dolby Atoms furthermore with a high impedance headphone jack.
On the back, there’s a 64MP ISOCELL GW 1 main sensor with an 8MP ultra-wide module and a 2MP macro cam. The newly launched Redmi K50i 5G has a 5,080mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. Redmi K50i 5G also has other remarkable attributes which include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity moreover with an IR port. The software side comes with Android 12 right out of the box with MIUI 13 skins on top.
Xiaomi India has also announced Redmi Buds 3 Lite today. It has 6mm dynamic drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and up to 18 hours of playback. There is also an IP54 rating which is priced at INR 1,999 ($3,198).
The new Redmi K50i looks like a very promising handset, and it will be interesting to see how it performs in the Indian market. The phone is not the most powerful on the market, but it has a lot to offer and could be a good option for people who want a good-looking phone at a relatively low price. We will be posting a full review soon, so please check back for more information about the K50i!
As I mentioned in the beginning, there are several weak points that we are hoping will be fixed or improved in the Redmi K50i. In our review, we mentioned how the camera and battery could be improved so we would love to see a change in these areas. We also mentioned that the chipset could be changed out for a faster version, so hopefully, this is something we get to see in the next version of the phone. Overall, we are really looking forward to seeing what Xiaomi has in store for the Redmi K50i in the future!
