Indian singer Bhupinder Singh died at the age of 82. He was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai two weeks ago and died of a cardiac arrest. The news of the demise of singer Bhupinder Singh met me with a sense of shock and disbelief. I had personally been following Singh since I was a child – his voice was inseparable from the poetry of the Punjabi verse and the ballads of love and loss.

I remember listening to a cassette of a collection of Singh’s songs in my primary school days. The fact that a language as complex as Punjabi could also be used for simple expressions of love was a big revelation for me.
Singh was a pioneer in many ways – that he represented the voice.

History of  Bhupinder Singh

Bhupinder Singh was born on September 5, 1891, in the village of Faridkot, Punjab. His father, Sardar Mahan Singh, was the head of the Sikh principality of Faridkot. Bhupinder Singh was educated at the Dufferin School in Lahore and the Mayo College in Ajmer. He succeeded his father as Maharaja of Faridkot in 1908.

Bhupinder Singh served in the British Indian Army during World War I and was awarded the Military Cross for his gallantry. He also served as a member of the Punjab Legislative Council and the Indian Legislative Assembly. In 1947, Bhupinder Singh acceded to the dominion of India and merged his state with the Union of India. He died on March 23, 1938, in New Delhi.

Bhupinder Singh was born on October 5, 1970, in Amritsar, India. His father was a well-known Sikh scholar, and his mother was a homemaker. Bhupinder Singh’s childhood was spent in a religious and disciplined environment. He studied at a local Gurudwara school and then went on to obtain a degree in Sikh Studies from Panjab University.

Bhupinder Singh’s research interests include Sikh history, philosophy, and literature. He has authored several books and articles on Sikhism, and his work has been translated into several languages. Bhupinder Singh is widely respected as an authority on Sikhism, and he is frequently consulted by government and media organizations on Sikh-related issues.

It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that singer Bhupinder Singh passed away in London, England, yesterday. He was 82 years old. Bhupinder Singh was born in Amritsar, India. He lived there until the age of 18 and began his singing career, which would last for over 60 years. Bhupinder Singh was best known for his hits, “Mohabbat Ho Gayi Hai Sila Diya,” “Tumse Pyar Kitna,” and “Na Jaane Kyun.” He has been nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer thirteen times, and won it three times, once in 1963 and twice in 1966.

We are saddened at the loss of Bhupinder Singh, who was a popular singer from the Indian state of Punjab.
