Price Of Eggs Increased By 30 Rupees Per Crate Recently, the price of eggs has started to increase. Businessmen say that the price of eggs has started increasing due to a lack of production according to demand.

Nepal Layers Poultry Association has been fixing the price of eggs. The association fixes prices for both farmers and consumers. The association, which set the new price of eggs on 5th Asar, set the new price again within seven/ten days.

Vinod Pokharel, president of the association informed that the minimum price per crate has been increased from 5 rupees to 20 rupees. ‘Production has decreased. “Demand has increased,” he said, “due to lack of supply according to demand, prices have increased.”

According to Dipak Kunwar, owner of Manmaiju-based Lumbini Egg Suppliers, currently, consumers have to pay between 540 rupees and 600 rupees per crate depending on the size.

‘The price varies according to the size,’ he said, ‘that also varies according to the shop. It’s a little cheaper at wholesale than at retail.’

According to him, currently, consumers have to pay 540 to 550 rupees per crate of medium-sized eggs.

Similarly, large eggs cost between 570 and 580 rupees, while the price of Excel eggs is 600 rupees per crate.

However, he says that consumers are getting two rupees cheaper than the price fixed by the union.

Earlier, consumers were getting medium-sized eggs for Rs.530 per crate, large eggs for Rs.550, and Excel eggs for Rs.570 to Rs.

He says that there is a possibility that the price will increase further if the production is not according to the market demand.
