Paying Tribute To Martyr Day 2082: Balen Said Balendra Shah (Balen), a senior leader of the National Independent Party (NISP), has commented that despite the system changing repeatedly for 85 years, the character of the government has not changed. Ballen made these comments while paying tribute to the martyrs on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day on Friday.
“It has been 85 years since the then state brutally murdered Gangalal Shrestha, Dasharath Chand, Dharmabhakta Mathema, and Shukraraj Shastri, who fought to demand an end to the Rana regime,” Balen said. “Ten years later, the Rana regime ended, but the state could not become a people’s state. Even after that, the Nepali people had to continue to struggle. In 85 years, the system changed repeatedly, but the character of the government did not change.”
“Like 85 years ago, this time too, the youth and students who took part in the peaceful protest demanding good governance and an end to corruption in the Gen-G movement of Bhadau had to sacrifice their precious lives,” Balen said.
He further wrote, “We have the responsibility to make Nepal an economically advanced country by ending long-rooted corruption and establishing good governance.”
“None of us can afford to ignore the sacrifices of these martyrs,” he wrote further. “Now is the time to honour the blood of the martyrs and fulfil their dreams. Build a country with good governance and free from corruption.”
“May no one ever have to become a martyr again. Heartfelt tribute to all the martyrs,” Balen said.
