According to The Wire, Apple’s operating system could see significant changes to its developer conference. The company is expected to skip iOS 18 and go straight to iOS 26, rather than iOS 19. The new naming scheme will likely continue for the next few years (27, 28, 29).
Apple’s software is also expected to see a major change in its look. The visual changes will bring uniformity to the interface across Apple’s various devices. This look will likely be based on the Vision Pro operating system.
Third-party software developers will also have access to a developer kit that will allow them to create AI features within iPhone apps, using Apple’s Large Language Model. When Apple’s AI features were first launched, they were met with inaccurate summaries on the iPhone lock screen. This was criticised by users as well as media outlets such as the BBC.
