With this, the third phase of the beta version, i.e. the ‘Platform Sustainability’ phase, has been completed. Now, Google has said that the final beta version will be released next month.
Google is preparing to officially release Android 16 in June after fixing the bugs found in all versions. This version will be available on Pixel phones in the first phase.
Android 16 adds audio features for the hearing impaired and text clarity for the visually impaired. It will also add local network security, which will control which apps can access devices on the local network.
The new update will add support for Auracast broadcast audio, making it easier to stream live audio in public places like airports, concerts, and classrooms.
Google is completely overhauling Android’s user interface. This will include widgets on the lock screen of Android phones and tablets, and improvements to the split notification and quick settings panels.
A new swipe gesture has also been added to Android 16. Accordingly, swiping to the left opens the notification panel, while swiping to the right opens the quick settings panel. This gesture will help you access two different panels quickly and easily, which is said to save the user’s time.
A vertical scrolling feature has also been added to Quick Settings. After this, the settings tiles can be scrolled to appear on the entire screen.
Additionally, a plus/minus button has been added to the Edit menu, making it easier to add or remove tiles. Previously, editing tiles was a cumbersome process and adding new tiles was difficult. Now, with the help of the new plus/minus button, you can easily adjust the settings to your needs.
Google is working with its partners to bring Android 16 to as many devices as possible.
