If you view an Instagram post from a device that has the feature, you can see that its comments include a down arrow (arrow pointing down). You can see the like option on the right and the like option on the left. However, when you click on it, you cannot see the number. That is, it does not show how many people have disliked it.
This feature, which came as a test, is currently being heavily criticized. “Now you can downvote/dislike comments on Instagram. But what? Why did Instagram put this feature in?” wrote one user.
Another user writes, “Who needed this feature and did Instagram bring it in? What is the rationale for it?”
Some users speculate that this feature was introduced to discourage users from giving negative information through comments. When there are more likes, the comment appears at the top. Due to this, many people see the comment. And, develop their opinions accordingly. It has been analyzed that when a comment is downvoted or disliked, the possibility of it appearing at the top is reduced.
However, some users are concerned that this feature will greatly impact the rights of good comments. They say that this feature will not be very effective and can lead to incidents of cyberbullying.
