India Becomes Fourth Country To Launch Two Spacecraft Into Space India has become the fourth country to successfully dock two spacecraft in space. The Indian Space Research Agency (ISRO) successfully docked for the first time on Thursday morning.
Earlier, only Russia, the US and China had successfully docked. Space docking means connecting two spacecraft in space.
This technology is said to be essential for India’s future ambitious space station construction and various space missions. India is conducting missions like Chandrayaan-4 and Gaganyaan. Under this, the Chandrayaan-4 mission plans to bring lunar soil samples to Earth and the Gaganyaan mission plans to send humans into space.
ISRO launched the Space Docking Experiment mission from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 10 pm on December 30. Under this, two spacecraft were deployed 470 km above the Earth with the help of the ‘PSLV-C60 rocket.
Earlier, docking was postponed due to technical problems on January 7 and 9. On January 12, the spacecraft was brought within three meters and then returned to a safe distance.
